My 30 Day Plant Based Challenge

My 30 Day Plant Based Challenge

I’ve recently heard so many good reports about cleansing your system and detoxing the body by eating a plant based diet. So for the next 30 days I’ve committed to challenging myself to eat a healthy plant based diet.

I will be logging my food and sharing the benefits, the pitfalls and hopefully my success story along the way.

Here’s what I’ll be eating

Basically anything that grows in the ground. That means any and all vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts, seeds, and whole grains.

And what I’ll be cutting out.

This is the confusing part because it seems that everyone has their own version of what they define as a plant based diet.

A plant-based diet is not necessarily a vegetarian diet. The term in research studies or as part of recommendations from major health organizations, a plant-based diet usually simply means that plant foods are the largest part of your plate — not necessarily your whole plate.

So that’s the good news.

I’m choosing to go plant-based as a healthy life option.

I won’t be eating meat and poultry, however I am going to eat a small amount of fish from sustainable sources. I’m  also going to try to abstain from butter, eggs and dairy. I will be avoiding anything that’s been processed or refined sugars, bleached flour, and most oils.

Anything that comes in a box or bag is probably full of chemicals, preservatives, food colorings, carrageenan, MSG, and sulfites.

It sounds like a huge hurdle but we shall see how I get on.
